The Endless Night
A black night, a silken
cover on fairy lands
gives no guidance, shines no light
from the absent stars
for all have gone to greet their
princess, all have been to
wish her good eve
while below on that forgotten,
dark patch of land we wait,
and say goodbye
for the princess you lead over
silvery moonlight
was ours for a little while
an angel she was in her own time,
but she fell from her pedestal
that fateful night, that
evening of woe,
when the stars called her back
and left in return
the endless night.
A/N: I wrote this the week of April 5, 2001, which was the day my friend Candace died in a car accident. She was less than two months away from graduation; this is dedicated to her memory. Copyright 2005 at Poetry.Com
