Melancholy
melancholy whispers
fill the darkness, break the silence
of so many nights
spent lying here alone
memories of you,
slightly faded, not as sharp now
yet they've found me
and though I try they haunt me still
maybe then I wasn't strong enough
to understand the truth,
maybe then I wasn't able
to see anything but you
I'm wiser now,
but still somehow
yours is the name on my lips
when I think of our last kiss
in the shadows of the day
and as the starlight fades away
and if I had one wish
I would wish that when you hear
a faint and melancholy whisper
you'll sleep and dream of me
For a moment I brushed fingertips with an idea of what happiness could be. It's gone now, but it won't leave me alone.
